چکیده

The residual resistivity ρ in metals caused by wedge disclination dipoles is studied in the framework of the Drude formula. It is shown that ρ ∼ L −p with p = 3 for biaxial and p = 2 for uniaxial dipoles (L is a size of dipole arm).

Glass-Like Heat Conduction in Materials With Disclination-Induced Topological Disorder

The recent progress in a study of various topologically disordered materials shows clearly an importance of rotational defects: disclinations, disclination dipoles, and disclination loops. Surprisingly, the phonon scattering due to strain fields caused by biaxial wedge disclination dipoles (BWDDs) turned out to be rather unusual (the mean free path lD ∼ q−1 at small q while lD → const with q in...

Atomic-level observation of disclination dipoles in mechanically milled, nanocrystalline Fe.

Plastic deformation of materials occurs by the motion of defects known as dislocations and disclinations. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy was used to directly reveal the individual dislocations that constitute partial disclination dipoles in nanocrystalline, body-centered cubic iron that had undergone severe plastic deformation by mechanical milling. The mechanisms by which the...

Wedge disclination in the field theory of elastoplasticity

In this paper we study the wedge disclination within the elastoplastic defect theory. Using the stress function method we found exact analytical solutions for all characteristic fields of a straight wedge disclination in a cylinder. The elastic stress, elastic strain, elastic bend-twist, displacement and rotation have no singularities at the disclination line. We found a modified stress functio...

Resistivity due to low-symmetrical defects in metals

The impurity resistivity, also known as the residual resistivity, is calculated ab initio using multiplescattering theory. The mean free path is calculated by solving the Boltzmann equation iteratively. The resistivity due to low-symmetrical defects is calculated for the fcc host metals Al and Ag and the bcc transition metal V. Commonly, 1/f noise is attributed to the motion of such defects in ...

Plasticity Effect on Residual Stresses Measurement Using Contour Method

Residual stresses have become an important player in the field of the structural integrity for many years. Having an exact knowledge of residual stress distributions can be essential in designing the engineering components as unexpected failures are inevitable where such stresses are ignored.  There are many residual stresses measurement techniques including destructive and non-destructive ones...
